Firstly, thank you to all of you who contributed to the holiday bonus fund for our three neighborhood patrolmen. Thanks to your kindness and generosity, we were able to provide a bonus of almost $900 to each officer, which is about $100 more than we've given in the past. They were tremendously grateful.
It is time to collect neighborhood security dues for 2025. At this time, I am collecting dues for houses and townhomes only, as I (along with the neighborhood association) am working to create a revamped way for the neighborhood condos to participate in the security program as whole condo buildings rather than individual condo/apartment units.
There are two options to pay your dues, which are $200 per house/townhouse.
1) Drop off a check to me (1870 Wycliff), made out to Ardmore Security Patrol, or
2) Venmo me personally (@Sadie-Talmadge), and I'll transfer the money into our neighborhood account (unfortunately, our small business account does not allow a direct Venmo account). Please make sure to note your name and address in the notes section of Venmo.
For the past few years we have had one hour of security patrol per day. Many of you have expressed to me a desire to have more hours of security patrol, and it's as simple as amassing enough dues to be able to tell the patrolmen that we would like to have and can pay for more time. As I mentioned in my last email, we have about a 20% participation rate for security dues, and I'd love to see us increase that so that we can ALL have the benefit of additional security in our neighborhood.
A little about our security program:
- We employ three off-duty APD policemen to patrol our neighborhood: Jeff Baxter, Kevin Leonpacher, and Justin Andresen. We pay them $35/hour for their valuable service.
- They also patrol surrounding neighborhoods, so they are usually very close by should an incident arise.
- They have a dedicated cell phone that they carry with them when patrolling off duty that you can call if an incident occurs (404-224-3321). ALWAYS CALL 911 FIRST if you have an incident to report. The cell phone is not a 24-7 line.
- They patrol at random times, usually at night/middle of the night, for one hour each day.
- If you are going out of town, you can leave a message with them on a dedicated voicemail line (404-369-0860). As a paying dues member, they will check your house each patrol and take packages/newspapers out of sight of passers by.
- Upon paying dues, you will receive a neighborhood security yard sign (if you do not already have one).
As always, please do reach out to me with any questions or concerns.
Kind regards,
